On a sunny afternoon in August, 1977, Lynda Smids was born. Ever since she was little she was interested in art, she can't remember not going to museums, on cultural excursions, let alone not being creative herself. After finishing high school she applied at an art school in Amsterdam (Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten) and got accepted. Becoming familiar with many materials and many forms of art, she developed a great passion for screen printing and painting. After her graduation Lynda concentrated on painting. She started exhibiting and selling her work about four years later.

Lynda works with acrylic on canvas. Oil paint was never her cup of tea as it dries too slow. The subject of her paintings and screen prints is (in general) the human being, especially the face. This has always been a very interesting and inexhaustible source of inspiration for her. You can read the face, the expression, you can tell so much from only looking into someone's eyes.
When a painting is (almost) done, Lynda puts it up in her gracious drawing room to look at it for a few days before she decides if the painting is finished or needs something more.

She works from her home in Amsterdam.
